Growing up in the middle of New York City, animal science is the last career that I imagine myself ending up in

Nonetheless, as I grew up, I found myself becoming more and more interested in animals and the natural world. When people think about global warming and changing environmental conditions, they usually think about plants. Animals, however, are every bit as important an issue. They spread diseases, they are part of our food supply, and most importantly they are part of the web of life that sustains the whole planet. Animal science is not a matter of just working as a veterinarian, or helping farmers raise livestock. There are careers in animal science that spread the globe and involves some very interesting environmental work.

I started off my career in something a little bit more practical than that. Originally, I was in animal reproduction science. This is also known as animal husbandry. Basically, it is the field of animal science that deals with livestock. In that career, you get to make decisions about buying and selling animals. Not only can you help make wise decisions about animals for sale, but you can also handle every aspect of feeding, caring for, and ultimately consuming livestock.

It wasn’t a bad career, but after a while it wasn’t enough. After all, I didn’t want to spend my life pushing buttons and filling our charts. If I was going to go into something as earthy of animal science, I figured I should make a difference. That is why I got involved with a nonprofit organization.

Basically, we ran a nonprofit animal wildlife Center. We would use it to teach kids about the local ecosystem, and about broader environmental issues in the world as a whole. I know that I’m not going to change the world myself, but I feel like I am making a small difference in the community through the work I do. Every year, teachers lead volunteer classes from the local school on field trips to our center. Through this work, we help educate the next generation to be stewards of the land. It is nice to be able to feel good about what I do for a living.

Taking a test is as simple as ABC – or, considering reality, should we assume it as such? Nowadays, students from different walks of life encounter difficulty whenever they feel that the advent of that appalling occurrence will commence any moment. At first, students may perceive it as a recurring mind block or episodes that go on perpetual rewind. In the end, it’s more than the usual problem – it’s anxiety. Chronic sweating, intensified bodily reactions, exigent mind block – these and other manifestations could be easily perceived from a person who’s having test anxiety.

Diversified components make up this type of anxiety. Physical components are attributed to chemical and hormonal imbalance, and muscular changes that occur inside the body. These factors impede regular thinking activities which, subsequently, will lead to lack of concentration and focus. We all know that for you to ace the test – given that you’re not a regular Einstein – focus and concentration are the key factors. This how test anxiety manages to affect regular cranial processes.

With this, we must understand that there’s no better way to overcome this type of anxiety but by going back to your ABC’s, or should we say – basics. And going back to basic means getting to the root of the problem – the causes of anxiety. There are many causes of anxiety and they were given acronyms for you to better understanding and memorize these causes.

More often than not, many students allow themselves to stay in a state of mediocrity. Instead of aspiring for better results or harnessing their full potentials, some students under-perform to avoid stress. In the process, they tend to produce “of-normal-caliber” output. This cause of anxiety brings about laziness, as a result, may contribute to future anxiety problems.

Aside, from the “normal” study practice of students, there is another cause of anxiety that triggers test anxiety – poor study habits. These study regimen may not necessarily mean mediocrity because some of the studies show that other types of bad study habits are exemplified at an extreme rate. An example of this is “burning your midnight candle” type of review. Studies show that no matter how excessively one pushes himself in preparation for an exam, the body will just absorb lesser amounts of information due to adverse situations as aforementioned. Other bad study habits also cause poor memory retention.

“How did you fare today?” or “How will I pass Trigonometry if I flunked Algebra?” – these and other types of questions most likely come out of student’s mouth whenever he is tensed. These questions indicate signs of worry that students encounter. Being compared to a seat mate’s performance or the fear of passing a higher degree of subject are symptoms of anxiety related to tests.

Our ABC’s, like the problem’s root, have always been given the least attention, but, the truth is, they define an entity’s origin. And where better to attack anxiety but to its roots – the cause of anxiety. Better understanding of its cause will give us the upper hand. Don’t you love you ABC’s?

The good news is that cats can live long, healthy lives after being diagnosed with diabetes. The trick is that you, as a pet owner, must be dedicated to care for your cat during his or her illness. Diabetes is not a death sentence for pets. Here is some information to help you understand what you need to do to help your diabetic cat.

Regular Medical Care: After your cat has been diagnosed with diabetes, it is imperative that you visit your veterinarian on a regular basis. Your cat will need regular checkups to check the blood sugar levels and to make sure that he or she is receiving the right amount of insulin. It is not difficult to learn to give your cat insulin injections. Your veterinarian will walk you through the process, and then you can repeat this at home. Usually your veterinarian will recommend that you give your cat injections between the shoulder blades in the scruff of the neck. With patience and practice, your cat will barely feel the injections. In fact, most diabetic cats know when it is time to get their injection and they may actually remind you by meowing.

Stocking the Right Supplies: It is important that you have the right supplies on hand to help treat your diabetic cat. You will need a vial of insulin as prescribed by your veterinarian, syringes and alcohol swabs. It is always a good idea to order your insulin when you are about halfway empty. It may take a couple days for your veterinarian to order your insulin. Your veterinarian might also recommend getting your diabetic cat vitamin supplements and seating him or a special prescription diet such as Science Diet W/D. You must be able to see your cat immediately after he or she receives their injection. It is also a good idea to have some numbers to your veterinarian into at least two 24-hour emergency vet clinics available with you at all times just in case your cat needs help.

Many people who owned diabetic cats worried about the costs that this condition incurs. It certainly does cost money to take care of a diabetic cat. A vial of insulin will cost you approximately $85 and will last you about two months. A box of 100 Syringes will cost about $30 and will last you 50 days, as you should use a new syringe for each injection. Prescription food will cost you about $40 for a 20-pound bag.
